Pete Rodriguez was the leader and pianist of a Puerto Rican Boogaloo band from The Bronx in the mid-1960s, sometimes known as Pete Rodríguez y Su Conjunto.
The band's most successful song, "I Like It Like That", made it to the national Billboard charts and has since been covered several times including by Tito Nieves. It was re-recorded by lead singer and composer Tony Pabón for the soundtrack of the 1994 movie I Like It Like That and received renewed exposure as the soundtrack to the main ident at Odeon Cinemas from 1998–2003. |

Bataan was neither the first nor only artist to combine doo-wop-style singing with Latin rhythms, his talent for it drew the attention of Fania Records. After signing with them in 1966, Bataan released "Gypsy Woman" in 1967 (the title track is a Latin dance cover of "Gypsy Woman" by The Impressions). He would, in full, release eight original titles for Fania which included the gold-selling Riot!. These albums often mixed energetic Latin dance songs, sung in Spanish, with slower, English-language soul ballads sung by Bataan himself. |

In 1954 he recorded his first 78 with his first composition, My Mambo.
His first two albums Arriba Cha-Cha-Cha, and Lets Go Latin were recorded with Fiesta records. He recorded Mi Mambo on the Plus label.
He recorded Se Te Quemó La Casa, and Que Chévere for Alegre Records. Orlando then returned to Fiesta Records, for whom he recorded Está en Algo (English: He's Up To Something) which included the smash hit Aprende a Querer. Later, he recorded the first bugaloo album ever recorded, Out of My Mind, for the Brunswick label. Then, he released his albumn Saxophobia.
